I’m Masayuki Takamura, Professor and Director of Cardiovascular Medicine, Kanazawa University School of Medical Sciences. On January 1, 2019, all numbering departments of general internal medicine in Kanazawa University were united and re-organized to organ-based departments. For the future development and advancement, we are working together on clinical medicine, research, and education.
Kanazawa University Hospital, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, is the “last bastion” in Hokuriku Medical Area. We conduct evidence-based and front-line medical care for patients with complex cardiovascular diseases. Also, we continuously brush our clinical skills and develop new medicines to treat patients. At the same time, we provide comprehensive treatments for each patient through the Hokuriku Heart Center Conference once a week with specialists in Cardiovascular Surgery, Radiology Department, and ME Center.
In addition, we are also focusing on the development of novel and advanced medicines and medical devices based on results form basic research. We continue to challenge the establishment and optimization of tailor-made precision medicine.

We provide seamless education and guidance to cultivate physicians with holistic medical care with kindness in every stage: undergraduates in School of Medicine; research of Ph.D. course in Graduate School of Medicine; junior and senior residency training in internal medicine; and fellow training in Cardiovascular Medicine. Cardiovascular medicine progresses rapidly and will continue to accelerate. Thus we must continuously acquire enormous amount of knowledge and skills. Under such circumstances, we let young members have their own goals to achieve in each stage such as: “to master cardiovascular intervention”; “to become the leading expert in catheter ablation for refractory arrhythmias”; “to be a scientific physician by learning medical statistics”; or “to be a specialist of echocardiography”. We hope that they grow up with incessant “Research Mind” in both clinical and research settings.
In addition, we cultivate a comprehensive cardiovascular physician by collaborating with other medical departments under the new internal medicine fellowship program.
